Virgin's Andrews leaves for GCap link-up

LONDON - Virgin Radio's marketing director David Andrews has left the station to work with GCap Media through his own company EMO.

Andrews established EMO before joining Virgin Radio and has now left his yearly contract at the station to concentrate on EMO.

Nick Button, GCap Media's marketing director who was responsible for Capital Radio changing its name to Capital 95.8, is set to leave the company and will not be replaced.

GCap Media said in a statement: "Nick Button will be leaving the station at the end of the year. The position of marketing director will not be replaced. Moving forward, Capital will be working with David Andrews' marketing and events agency EMO on a consultancy basis. David was previously group marketing director at Capital Radio and was recently at Virgin."

The move will see Andrews hook up with former Virgin Radio chief executives Paul Jackson and Fru Hazlitt. Jackson is now managing director of Capital 95.8, having followed ex-Virgin Radio boss Hazlitt, who left the station last year to become managing director of GCap London.

David Lloyd, programming director at Virgin Radio, now has an extended remit to include Andrews' former marketing duties, becoming programming and marketing director. Before joining Virgin Radio, Lloyd was managing director of LBC Radio and the Galaxy network.
