The site, which encourages users to upload videos of their political views, was set up by Omer Shaikh, the former managing director of digital agency Red Kite. Friction.tv claims to be uncensored, allowing people to air opinions on local and global issues.
Channels on the site include politics, technology, entertainment and business. Politicians Boris Johnson and Tony Benn have both contributed to the site in its beta stage. Users can submit videos and then post a typed or video response.
The company says it is in talks with other companies about advertising on the site.
