The win, which puts the agency on the brand’s roster, was a direct result of a chemistry meeting between 18 Feet & Rising and Virgin Media as part of the review, which kicked off in August.
18 Feet & Rising failed to progress beyond that stage of the pitch, but will handle ongoing special projects for the brand. It will work as a second-string agency to Virgin Media’s lead creative agency, which will be appointed after a final pitch on 16 November.
The pitching agencies are Mother, Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Adam & Eve and the incumbent, DDB UK. DDB won the account in May last year.
Nigel Gilbert, the chief marketing officer at Virgin Media, and Jeff Dodds, its executive director of brand and marketing, are overseeing the review.
