Virgin Holidays restructure prompts direct review

Virgin Holidays is reviewing its £2m direct marketing and advertising account, which is held by Kitcatt Nohr Alexander Shaw.

The review follows a restructure of the company's marketing department since the arrival last year of former British Airways senior manager for leisure and digital marketing, Andrew Shelton, as marketing director.

Kitcatt Nohr, which has held the account since 2004, intends to repitch.

Last month, the agency created a campaign to promote Virgin's late-2007 and summer 2008 holidays. The work, comprising mailings, email, online and radio executions, featured actor Christopher Biggins.

The initiative has been supported by the offer of a £100 Tesco gift card for customers buying a Virgin holiday.

The online activity was created by digital agency Underwired.

The media planning and buying account, which is held by Manning Gottlieb OMD, is not included in the review.

Three months ago, Shelton unveiled plans to revitalise Virgin Holidays to bring it in line with the group's premium brands.
