Virgin Energy to join Virgin Home umbrella brand

LE Group is to relaunch its Virgin Energy brand under the umbrella name Virgin Home as it prepares to unveil a range of home-related products.

The utilities owner, which took a majority stake in the Virgin company in July, is switching to the Virgin Home name from the end of this month, keeping Virgin Energy as a sub-brand.

Gary Tubb, marketing director at LE Group, plans to talk to agencies about the Virgin Home brief, but is still finalising details of its relaunch.

Leo Burnett is the agency of record on Virgin Energy after winning a reported £10m launch task in June 2000. However, the account has been largely dormant since, with the focus on below-the-line activity.

According to Tubb, calling the brand Virgin Home was part of the strategy from the outset, as it fits with the company's ambitions to unveil home-related products. These will include telecoms service Virgin Home Phone, which launches on May 20.

Tubb is reviewing advertising for LE Group's London Electricity and SWEB brands.
