Virgin 1 to examine love rats and bunny boilers

LONDON - Virgin 1's summer line-up will include six home-grown documentaries focusing on the unashamed, extreme behaviour of people such as 'love rats' and 'bunny boilers'.

The first in the series, 'Bunny Boiler & Proud', tells the stories of several people who have gone to excessive lengths to get revenge on their partners.

Among them are 'Wife Swap' subject Lizzy Bardsley, who cut up her ex's suits and put laxatives in his dinner; and a jilted husband who killed his wife's cat by cooking it in a tumble dryer.

The'... & Proud' series continues with 'Love Rat & Proud', which studies womanisers and maneaters.

Other programmes feature cradle-snatchers, gold diggers, sex maniacs.

Rebecca Johnson, the channel's senior commissioning editor, has ordered the hour-long shows from ITV. The executive producer is Tim Miller.

Daniela Neumann, acting director of programmes for Virgin 1, said: "'... & Proud' is an edgy, controversial and in-depth look into the people that pride themselves on living out some of the most taboo subjects in everyday culture."
