Video: VW Golf TV ad returns to wry humour

LONDON - Volkswagen's latest TV campaign for its Golf model positions the car as best in its class.

The TV and cinema spot, by DDB London, shows everyday scenes where people compare hatchback vehicles to the VW Golf.

It ends with the line, ‘Why drive something like a Golf, when you can drive a Golf?' and the model price of £13,585. The new campaign breaks on 15 August.

‘We've noticed that people find it almost impossible to judge any other hatchback without comparing it to the original and best, and this commercial reflects that,' said Morna Steel, communications manager at VW UK

The previous campaign, which featured a VW designer fighting against alternative versions of himself, was banned before the 9pm watershed after over 1000 complaints were made to the Advertising Standards Authority.
