Burroughs, who starts immediately, replaces Kirsty Dare, who has taken up the role of new business director at design agency Design Beckons.

Burroughs has worked for ZenithOptimedia for eight years, spending six years as a press planner and buyer before rising to strategic planner, working on the Puma and Warner Music accounts.

Burroughs' remit will be to develop the Vice Media Group's marketing and advertising strategy and sell across all platforms of the business, including online and Vice Media branded events. He will report to Vice Media's UK publisher Matt O'Mara.

Andrew Creighton, chief executive of Vice Media Group, said: "We are thrilled that Darren is bringing his wealth of experience to Vice Media Group.

"Building on our advertising strategies is a key focus for us this year and we think we've got the best person on board to help cement our presence in the media arena."

Burroughs said: "I am excited to be joining Vice at this time in its history and to work with them to grow the company's footprint into new and promising areas."
