VH1 raids Nickelodeon for director of programmes

LONDON - MTV Networks has appointed Steve Shannon as VH1 director of programmes.

Shannon, who is currently creative director at Nickelodeon, joins VH1 in September with a brief to commission programming across VH1's three channels VH1, VH1 Classic and TMF. He will also work with the marketing team on VH1's on-air look.

Working with Sally Habbershaw, general manager of VH1-branded channels, Shannon will help to develop production deals with other channels as well as building a closer relationship with VH1 USA.

Shannon started his career at MTV in 1989 and has been responsible for the look and promotion of the Nickelodeon channels for the past six years.

Habbershaw said: "Having worked on MTV and Nickelodeon, Steve's experience will no doubt be instrumental in driving VH1 forward. He will be a very welcome addition to the team."
