Vauxhall moves Astra task from Lowe into DLKW

Vauxhall has switched the ad account for its Astra model, thought to be worth around £12m, from Lowe to Delaney Lund Knox Warren (DLKW).

It is the second piece of Vauxhall business that DLKW has grabbed from Lowe this year after winning a place on the car brand's roster. In June it gained the £16m Corsa account after pitching against Lowe and DFGW.

The last ads for the Astra broke in July promoting the convertible version's remote control hood with the strapline 'handles life beautifully'.

DLKW is also currently pitching against Lowe for Vauxhall's mini-MPV, the Meriva, which is due to launch in the UK next year.It is an extension of the Corsa range.

Lowe has handled the bulk of General Motors-owned Vauxhall's advertising since 1983, but Vauxhall introduced a second roster agency in April as part of its strategy to revitalise its brands. Vauxhall has a 12.4% market share according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

Vauxhall's marketing communications manager Patrick Dunster confirmed DLKW had been hired to produce Astra's next TV campaign.
