Vans to celebrate 50th birthday with events across the globe

London's House of Vans is set to host the UK instalment of Vans' 50th birthday celebrations from 18-19 March.

Dizzee Rascal is headlining the 50 Years Off The Wall event on 18 March, which will also see performances from Annie Mac, Fat White Family, Rat Boy and Julio Bashmore.

Those interested in attending the free event, which is scheduled to run from 8.30pm to 3am, are required to enter a ballot via the House of Vans London website prior to 6pm on Sunday (13 March), with winners to be announced on Tuesday (15 March). 

Taking place on 19 March, Vans Family Day will see skate and BMX demonstrations and signings with members of the Vans skate team, games, cake and workshops, including a screen printing session with Lovenskate and heat press workshop from Man Up Girl.

There will be opportunities to view a retrospective of Vans’ history via the Tell a Friend about Vans 50th anniversary art show over both days, and attendees will be invited to browse an interactive 3D display of the label’s new The Story of Vans campaign.

House of Vans' tunnel 3 area will also be transformed into the House of Vans Street Market, which will showcase the art, collectibles and music by independent creatives such as Tessa Metcalfe, Skate Interiors, Other Side of the Pillow, Lilli Cowley-Wood, Hazel Nicholls and Beach London.

Finally, the Vans store in Carnaby will be offering a shoe customisation service with illustrators from the Vans Family on 16 March, and the Camden outpost is to provide the service on 17 March. 

Designed to celebrate the brand’s heritage in action sports, art, music and street culture over the last 50 years, the worldwide celebration will see events across a total of 10 cities, including London, New York and Hong Kong.  

Vans hosted a on Tuesday (8 March) in celebration of International Womens Day.
