The event lanched last weekend (16 August) and will be held every Saturday night until 25 October, in a revamped car park in Shoreditch high street.
Organised in-house by Urban Food Fest, the event will feature a different theme every two weeks, with the aim of encouraging visitors to get dressed up and to gain a more interactive experience. The opening theme was Red Hot Chili Peppers and the next one will be Viva Britannia. Chilli-based cocktails were created specially for the launch event while cocktails were given out as prizes for the best-dressed chillis.
Food included Korean spicy pork kimchi burgers, Greek spicy chickpea and halloumi wraps with desserts such as chocolate salami, chilli tarts and chilli & chocolate French creme brulees.
Up to 15 street food trucks and stalls will serve visitors global gourmet street food, which also changes every week, alongside pop-up shot bars and craft beer stalls and a vegan corner, while live bands provide entertainment. The street food trucks and stalls include converted horse-boxes, 60s French Citreon H vans, caravans, pick-up trucks, Italian Piaggios, Thai tuk tuks and US ambulances.
Jessica Tucker, founder of Urban Food Fest, said: "Urban Food Fest has fantastic themes planned for all of 2014 and I am unbelievably excited for the year ahead."
