Unilever's Surf sends up perfume ads in spoof spot

Unilever has spoofed the well worn formula of the perfume ad in a new campaign for its Surf Sensations detergent range.

The spot depicts an elegantly dressed lady, walking confidently down a marble-pillared hall, not unnoticed by a pair of besuited (and bebowtied) gentlemen, who appear seemingly out of nowhere. At the end of the room the heroine opens a pair of doors, to reveal, glimmering in dim mood light… a bottle of Surf Sensations.

The parallel the clip draws with personal fragrance raises a reasonable point - if you want to smell nice, it doesn’t necessarily matter whether your alluring whiff is emanating from the inside of your wrists or the fibres of your clothes.
