Uncut and Mojo go head-to-head

Uncut: edition celebrates 50th issue

IPC's Uncut and Emap's Mojo are to go head-to-head next month with special editions dedicated to The Beatles.

Both titles are publishing four separate special edition covers each featuring a different member of the band.

The commemorative edition of Uncut is being published to coincide with the 50th issue of the magazine.

The July issue of the title, which goes on sale on June 4, will also include a covermounted CD of 24 Beatles tracks performed by various artists such as Oasis, Otis Redding, Peter Sellers and Marianne Faithfull.

Mojo's dedicated edition has been brought forward to June 1. The title has been years in planning, according to an Emap spokesperson,
and includes interviews with the group's three surviving members.

Uncut has joined with Virgin FM who will be playing tracks from the featured CD and discussing editorial features, which include a celebrity poll of the top 50 Beatles tracks.

"For the Beatles' fanatic, this is an unmissable package and emphasises that where Uncut continues to innovate, others merely imitate," said Allan Jones, editor of Uncut.
