UK cinemagoers vote Dirty Dancing as favourite flick

LONDON - Dirty Dancing is the UK's favourite film, according to research carried out by the Cinema Advertising Association.

The 1987 blockbuster featuring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey beat the classics Gone With The Wind and Star Wars to the number-one spot.

High School Musical, The Matrix and The Shawshank Redemption also made it into the Top Ten list.

Fleur Castell, a spokesperson for the CAA, said: "It just goes to prove what a broad appeal cinema has, and never more so than at the moment."
