The annual tradeshow was founded in 2004 and is held in Rio de Janiero. Last year it attracted 250 exhibitors and 12,600 maritime engineering industry visitors, generating revenues of around $700,000.

"Working with our partners in Brazil, we aim to grow the Navalshore exhibition and conference rapidly over the next several years, as well as bring UBM's maritime brands to Brazil," said UBM International Media chief executive Simon Foster.

The acquisition is key in UBM's plans to introduce its maritime brands such as Marintec and Cruise Shipping to the Brazilian market.

Navalshore will complement UBM's maritime transport show Intermodal also held in Brazil.

The next Navalshore show takes place from 11-13 August 2010.
