Exhibition giant UBM has bought US show DesignCon for nearly £1m.

The electronic design and semiconductor industry exhibition, founded in 1996, joins UBM subsidiary EE Times Group.

The annual four-day Silicon Valley event pulls in over 3,300 visitors each year. The deal was worth £906,000.

"The acquisition of DesignCon fits our strategy of building on the strength of our existing products and services to expand into adjacent markets, as well as growing our international presenc ein the electronic design and semiconductor industry," said EE Time Group CEO Paul Miller.

"This acquisition will contribute to EE Times Group's future growth and strengthen our position as the premier independent media, services and information supplier right across the global electronics industry."
