TV Choice retains top listings spot ahead of What's on TV

LONDON - H Bauer's TV Choice has retained the top TV listings spot for the third consecutive period, staying ahead of IPC's What's On TV and BBC Magazines' Radio Times, according to the latest magazine ABC figures.

TV Choice reported a circulation of 1,369,088 against What's On TV circulation of 1,318,093 for the July-December 2008 period. Both titles' circulations slipped period on period by 1.8% and 2.1% respectively in a sector that saw an overall decline of 0.8%.

Radio Times managed to grow its circulation, climbing 1.4% to 1,023,255 period on period, but is down 2.9% year on year.

IPC title TV Times held on to the fourth spot with a 1.9% boost in sales period on period to 343,226.

IPC's TV Easy retained fifth place with 212,419 but suffered a fall of 8.2% period on period and 16.6% year on year.

Circulation of Hachette Filipacchi's Inside Soap dropped 3.5% period on period to 188,273, while IPC's TV & Satellite Week dropped 2.4% to 183,906 copies.

H Bauer-owned TV Quick remains in eighth place but suffered the biggest fall period on period, down by 10% to 167,507. It is also down 20.8% year on year.

In contrast Hachette's All about Soap saw the biggest increase period on period, rising 7.8% to 113,436 and jumping from 11th place to number nine. It overtook IPC's Soaplife, which saw a rise of 2.5% period on period and 9.6% year on year to 112,275.

Bauer's Total TV Guide dropped from ninth place to 11th despite a 1% climb during the period to 111,221.

Viligan's TV Now!, which only reports annually, has declined 9% year on year to 30,326.
