My career turning point was... when the Competition Commission decided to pull the plug on Project Kangaroo. Until then, I thought I was about to launch a product that would introduce a new way of thinking and help breathe life into a nascent video-on-demand marketplace.

When the venture collapsed, I took the opportunity to join Telegraph Media Group - an organisation that could not only offer a similarly exciting challenge, but was also in a position to deliver.

Having spent 12 months working on Project Kangaroo and arguing over the theory of such fascinating subjects as the ideal ad-break pattern and whether reader registration actually works, it's extremely exciting and rewarding to be back in the real world, seeing projects come to life.
