TUI picks agencies for £100m pan-Euro task

TUI, the world's biggest travel group, has hired the DDB network and German agency Jung Von Matt to handle its £100m pan-European ad account.

The appointment comes after a five-month pitch process, which also involved Saatchi & Saatchi, Grey International, WCRS and Scholz & Friends.

It means that BMP DDB will take over the UK advertising for the Thomson and Lunn Poly brands, worth more than £20m annually, from WCRS by the summer.

A central European communications team, including TUI UK marketing director Hugh Edwards, will work with DDB and Jung Von Matt to define the group's advertising strategy. Local ads will then be implemented by national agencies within the network.

"WCRS has been a first class UK agency, but it's now time for a more integrated approach to European advertising," said Edwards.
