The appointment comes as the troubled health club chain, which delisted from the Stock Exchange in August, looks to reclaim its position as the market leader in health clubs and gyms in the UK and Europe. The brief is to review and evaluate the brand, and recommend a brand positioning that could also involve a redesign of its clubs.
The review comes as the chain seeks a marketing director to replace Jeremy Tester, who has resigned and leaves without a job to go to at the end of November.
Holmes Place's brand and advertising work was previously handled by M&C Saatchi, which created a TV ad that ran in January 2002.
Holmes Place was acquired by its management, backed by private equity groups Bridgepoint and Permira, in August. Rival fitness clubs operator Cannons was in the running to buy the chain with a £202m bid, but pulled out after it suffered a downturn.
