Trinity Mirror relanches regional websites

Trinity Mirror is to relaunch its network of local websites to give users more ways of interacting, starting with its flagship Liverpool Echo site.

The website for the Liverpool Daily Post and the Liverpool Echo, will, from April, have better blogging software, forum software and more user-generated content. This will be rolled out to the rest of the newspaper websites, including Birmingham and Newcastle later in the year. The templates for the network of sites will be standardised, making it easier to advertise across the network. There will also be improved video and audio.

Users will be able to upload photos and write their own blogs. There will be an announcements service for obituaries, engagements and births. Selected user-generated content can then be fed back into the newspaper.
