Trinity Mirror has restructured its interactive media sales
department.
Jason Smith, who recently joined as new-media sales director (Media
Business, 18 October), has abolished the client sales, agency sales and
special projects teams.
Each sales person will now sell across the entire portfolio - including
e-commerce, sponsorships and banner advertising - with clients and
agencies distributed evenly across the team.
The 12-strong team sells across a portfolio of 12 sites, which include
Jazz FM, Sporting Life and IC24, the group’s portal.
Smith said the sales team would expand next year to meet the demands of
new business; the department is on the brink of closing a number of
sponsorship deals.
Meanwhile, Cornel Riklin, Trinity Mirror’s managing director of
operations and interactive media services, walked out last week.
John Allwood, group deputy chief executive, will take responsibility for
operations, and David Clark, head of IT, will continue to oversee
new-media and interactive services.
Riklin is leaving the newspaper business to work for a private equity
company as a partner.
