In a trading update released this morning, the publisher added that its digital audience is growing as its digital display and transactional revenue grew 24% compared to the same period last year.

It wasn’t good news for print circulation either as it dropped 6% during the quarter.

The company, which publishes The Mirror, expects group revenue to fall 9% in the third quarter, compared with an 8% decline in the first half of the year.

It added: "Publishing revenue is expected to fall by 10% with print declining by 12% and digital growing by 11%."

Yesterday, Daily Mail and General Trust, which owns the Daily Mail, said it is tripling its cost cutting to £50m.
