Trinity Mirror ad revenue rises as regionals perform well

LONDON - Trinity Mirror has said that advertising revenues across the group have risen by 4.2% for the year, boosted by a strong performance by the regional titles.

In a trading statement covering the five months to November, Trinity Mirror, which publishes titles including the Daily Mirror and The People, said that UK national titles increased ad revenues by 1.6% and circulation revenues by 3.3%.

Regional papers delivered ad revenue growth of 4.5%, helped by strong demand in property, and circulation revenue growth of 4.4%. The figures do not include the regional titles in Ireland, disposed of in January this year.

The sports division achieved advertising revenue growth of 14.5% and circulation revenue growth of 5.8%, while Trinity Mirror's Scottish national titles increased ad revenues by 6.1% and circulation revenues by 0.8%.

Magazines and exhibitions were up 2.8% in advertising revenues and down 1.0% in circulation revenues.

Trinity Mirror recently reinforced its regional newspapers division with the appointments of Georgina Crace from IPC as managing director in August and Matt Harrison from Diageo as newspaper sales director in November.
