Tributes as a Haymarket ‘giant’ retires

Peter Osborne, the chairman and founder of Haymarket Exhibitions, has retired after 38 years at the company

Peter Osborne, the chairman and founder of Haymarket Exhibitions, has retired after 38 years at the company.

Haymarket Media Group chairman Lord Heseltine said: “Peter is a true giant in the exhibitions industry. He has established Haymarket as the market leading organiser of consumer events and Haymarket owes Peter a huge debt of gratitude for his lifetime’s work.”

Osborne joined Haymarket in 1969 and worked in sales for eight years before leaving to buy a pub and build a restaurant in East Sussex.

He returned in 1982 and went on to become managing director of its business and medical publishing divisions.In 1990 he created Haymarket Exhibitions. Its group managing director, Simon Daukes, succeeds him.
