Ian Davis, the former new business director at CIA, has resurfaced
as the first executive media director of Translucis, the plasma screen
network.
Davis, who was made redundant by CIA at the end of August, will be
responsible for driving commercial advertising revenue and raising the
media industry's awareness of opportunities to use Translucis'
Magnetic-branded plasma screens in bars and clubs.
Davis hails from a TV sales background. He served a stint as internal
sales director at TSMS, the now-defunct ITV sales house, which closed in
January.
He also operated as a freelance consultant for Channel 4 and Starcom
Motive.
At Translucis, Davis will report to global chief executive Andy
Hart.
Hart said: "Davis' experience with the advertising sector has given him
an enviable and extensive contact list. This, coupled with his strategic
approach, will assist Translucis."
Diageo-backed Translucis launched last year, broadcasts digital plasma
ad screens in 280 bars and clubs across the UK. It claims an average
audience of one million 18- to 24-year-old consumers a week.
Reebok, Sony, Glamour magazine and drinks brands Bacardi Breezer,
Budweiser and Smirnoff have all advertised on the plasma screens.
The ads are broadcast via satellite to the screens. The images shown are
a combination of traditional creative ads and information about
individual venues.
