Spotify landed a new MD, IPC made wholesale changes, and it was one-in, one-out at Starcom, in BR's round-up of the industry moves in advertising, marketing and media.

Interbrand chairman Rita Clifton has been appointed as the new chairman of social enterprise charity group BTCV, formerly the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers. She will take up her new role on 1 April. (±±¾©Èü³µpk10)

Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R's deputy chairman Tony Harris is leaving the agency to join BBDO Guerrero/Proximity Philippines, as its new chief executive. Harris, who has worked at RKCR/Y&R for the past 12 years, will move to the Philippines later this year. (±±¾©Èü³µpk10)

Gary Sharpen, the executive creative director of WDMP, is leaving the agency after three years to pursue other interests. Sharpen joined WDMP in January 2008 as its first executive creative director. (±±¾©Èü³µpk10)  

Marketing

 

Subway is set to appoint Burger King's Manaaz Akhtar as its UK marketing director. Akhtar, who will take up the role at the end of the month, joins after two years as senior marketing manager at Burger King.  ()

Media  

 

Chris Maples, the former commercial director of Microsoft Advertising, is set to join Spotify as its UK managing director. Maples left Microsoft in January, ostensibly to spend more time with his family, after three-and-a-half years at the company. (±±¾©Èü³µpk10)

Stevie Spring, Future's chief executive, has been selected to become chairman of the Professional Publishers Association (PPA), from April 2012. Spring will succeed current chairman Charles Reed, group managing director of William Reed Business Media. ()

MTV owner Viacom has promoted MTV Network's Australia and New Zealand digital chief Tom Armstrong to the position of vice-president of digital sales for Viacom Brand Solutions International (VBSI). ()

Starcom MediaVest has appointed Barbara Kittridge as global client managing director. She moves to the role from her position as managing director at the Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG)-owned full service media agency, Spark. () 

BSkyB has appointed Barry Louth, BT media strategist and former PHD media group manager, to the position of head of media planning, replacing Steve Beckett who has moved to be head of cycling, responsible for Sky's relationship with BCA and Team Sky. ()

Havas-owned Arena Media has hired Justin Gibbons, the founding partner of Work Research, as head of behavioural economics, on a part-time basis. Gibbons, who will continue to work part-time at Work Research, will be responsible for integrating behavioural economics into the Arena Media planning process. ()

IPC Media has unveiled a major restructure of its sales division IPC Advertising, which will create a new centralised trading team led by Kate Mackenzie. Among a series of changes, Mackenzie, currently the ad director at IPC Weeklies, has been promoted to the new role of trading director, reporting to IPC Advertising's managing director Charlie Meredith. ()

Specific Media, the online ad network, has appointed Chris Worrell, former insight manager at News International, to the newly created role of European research manager. Worrell will report to Pippa Halstead, vice-president of European marketing at Specific Media. ()

Richard Hartell, chief strategy officer at Starcom MediaVest, is to leave the UK to take up a strategic group role in the US with the Publicis-owned agency. Hartell is expected to start his New York-based role at the end of May. ()

IPC has hired Mike Newcombe for the newly created role of director of mobile advertising. Newcombe was formerly a mobile controller at Sky Digital Media, where he led the mobile sales operation for the past two years. ()
