Tournes to head BT press buying at Starcom MediaVest

LONDON - Ian Tournes, an associate director of MediaCom, is leaving the agency to head BT's £23m press buying account at Starcom MediaVest.

Tournes, who currently heads the COI Communications account at MediaCom, will join Starcom on March 3 as press director as the agency prepares to take over the account in the Spring.

Starcom MediaVest won the BT print account from Zenith Media last November. At the time it was the first time that the two Publicis Groupe-owned media agencies, Starcom and MediaVest, had collaborated on a pitch.

Other staff are also being recruited to work on the BT account, with Emma Ret, a Mail on Sunday sales executive, and Andrew Power, press buyer at MediaVest, being named as media managers.

Tournes has been with MediaCom for two-and-a-half years. He was previously with MediaVest, but moved in October 2000 when MediaCom won the COI account.

Clare Seager will take over as the head of the COI account at MediaCom when Tournes leaves at the end of February.
