Tourism Ireland shortlists four for £34m global ad work

LONDON - Tourism Ireland has shortlisted four agencies, including incumbent McCann Erickson, for its €50m (£34m) global advertising and media account, with an appointment to be made in October.

The other names on the list are Young & Rubicam, Euro RSCG and J Walter Thompson.

The tourism body has put its media and creative accounts up for pitch so McCann Erickson will repitch for the work with its sister media agency Universal McCann.

McCann Erickson's lastest work for the client, called "Ireland -- the island of memories", has won awards.

WPP-owned agencies JWT and Young & Rubicam are battling each other and will pitch alongside sister media agency Mindshare. Havas agencies Euro RSCG and MPG will pitch together for the work.

The successful agency will begin working on the account in 2005 and the results will appear in 2006. Tourism Ireland's campaigns usually focus on the key markets of Britain, the US, France and Germany.

The review is being conducted by Agency Assessments International.
