Tour of Britain seeks jersey sponsor

LONDON - The Tour of Britain, the UK's top professional cycle stage road race, is looking for a sponsor for the Leader's Jersey.

According to The Tour of Britain, sponsoring the Leader's Jersey will allow a company to align itself with a sport that will feature heavily in the Beijing and London Olympics, and which represents significant medal opportunities for British Cyclists.

The event, which will again be televised on BBC and British Eurosport, is the most widely attended live sport event in the UK, annually reaching over a million spectators with 70,000 people lining the streets of London last year for the final race day.

Hugh Roberts, chief executive of The Tour of Britain, said: "This year, the seven day race starts in London on September 9 and finishes in Glasgow on September 15.

"The Leader's jersey provides a fantastic opportunity for a sponsor to be involved with a sport that is one of the nation's most popular leisure activities. The sport will enjoy a significantly higher profile following the excitement of the Tour de France starting in London next month.

"Team GB will also be taking part in The Tour of Britain, which will allow the race audience to see the new generation of cyclists who will be our Olympic medal hopefuls."
