Total Media takes on travel business

Total Media has won the media planning and buying business for lowcosttravelgroup.com, as part of the holiday website firm's £2m marketing campaign for 2008.

The company, which is an umbrella group for a series of budget holiday-themed websites such as lowcostbeds.com, was set up by former First Choice Holidays managing director Paul Evans in 2004.

The account will be handled by Total Media's direct-response team, headed by Lucas Brown. The deal is the first agency appointment for lowcosttravelgroup.com and the appointment of Total Media was made without a pitch.

Simon O'Flynn, commercial director at Low Cost Travel Group, said: "This is the first time we've made the decision to directly appoint an agency to work with - we've previously booked direct or on an ad hoc basis.

"I've always been impressed with Total Media, so we decided not to hold a pitch."
