Tories to replace Immediate Sales after electing leader

The Conservative Party is expected to part company with Immediate Sales after electing a new leader in December.

Senior Tories said Maurice Saatchi's resignation as the Tory co-chairman meant the party would seek an agency to succeed Immediate Sales, an M&C Saatchi subsidiary.

One Tory source said: "There are differing views about the election campaign but criticism is not being levelled at the agency."

The agency is playing up its work for the party in a letter to potential clients. Despite the Tories' third successive defeat, it says its campaign helped "secure their biggest electoral success for 22 years".

Saatchi fired a parting shot this week in a pamphlet published by the Centre for Policy Studies that criticised the Conservatives' election campaign strategy.

Saatchi criticised the Tory ads that branded Tony Blair a "liar". He said: "Ironically, they weren't wounding enough - everyone thinks politicians lie."
