Tories link to UK brands to lure party members

The Conservative Party is striving to attract members ahead of the next general election by offering discounted products from brands such as RAC and BTopenworld.

At a press conference today (Thursday) at Conservative Central Office, party chairman Theresa May will unveil affinity marketing deals designed to broaden Tory support.

In a ground-breaking strategy from a major political party, the Conservatives have struck agreements with insurance provider Churchill, telecoms firm MT Connect, the RAC, MBNA, BTopenworld and wine supplier Jeroboams.

Each of the companies has agreed to offer supporters discounts on their products, which the party believes will encourage more people to join the Tory ranks.

The initiative comes as a glimmer of light emerges for the party. Latest opinion polls suggest the Tories are now neck-and-neck with Labour.
