Tories demand COI budget cuts

BIRMINGHAM - The Conservatives have called on the government to cut the COI's £150m adspend as part of series of belt-tightening measures to cope with the economic downturn.

Tories demand COI budget cuts

Addressing his conference in Birmingham, Shadow Chancellor George Osborne said: ‘The whole country is having to tighten its belt and save money. In the private sector, when times are tough, you take out the overheads; the consultants are sent packing and the advertising budget is cut. Government should do the same.'

Osborne pledged that a Tory administration would cap Labour's ‘wasteful consultancy and advertising bills'.
