Speaking at the culture, media and sport question time in the House of Commons yesterday afternoon, Yeo accused culture secretary Tessa Jowell of "dithering on digital".
He said: "Despite admitting that it won't be long before cheap set-top boxes will allow every home to receive a digital signal, she has refused to set a firm date for digital switchover for analogue television.
"Failure to give a lead will make decisions for parts of the industry harder and put off the day when British viewers can enjoy the benefits of new technology."
Yeo is said to be concerned that there is still analogue equipment available in shops and that people are not preparing for the change in technology.
"He believes people need a date to work towards in order to prepare for the switchover to digital, when their analogue equipment becomes obsolete," a spokeswoman for the Conservative Party said.
