Simon Davies, the newly appointed commercial director at Independent Newspapers, poached Danks from the Daily Express owner.
Danks' role will be split among the commercial senior staff, including group advertising controller Jane Putley, who will head trading on newspapers and supplements and Chris Kelly, business development
manager, who will now oversee the group's celebrity titles, including New!, Star and OK!. Kieron Summerhayes, who became classified advertising director last year, and is to take on a bigger role and will support Putley in her new role.
