At the same time Paul Edwards, the group chief executive who oversees Lowe's five subsidiary operations, is set to become more involved with the running of the London ad agency.
However, senior Lowe sources claimed that no firm decisions had been taken on any management changes and that any restructure was unconnected with the losses. But they refused to make any official comment.
Lowery, the former head of planning at Lowe, which he joined nine years ago, is understood to be negotiating the terms of his departure. He may keep a consultancy role at the agency.
Edwards, the former Henley Centre chairman and chief executive, is a highly regarded thinker and strategist and Lowe chiefs are said to be keen to increase his involvement in the main agency alongside the chief executive, Chris Thomas. The question of whether or not Edwards should take on the agency chairmanship has been discussed but insiders say no offer has been made.
Paul Weinberger, the current agency chairman and executive creative director, intends to remain in place.
