Wieden & Kennedy London has been hit by another senior departure
with the news that the acting creative director, Tony Barry, is leaving
the agency without a job to go to.
Barry, who left the agency on Wednesday, was the only remaining member
of the original W&K London team, having joined the agency when it
launched in April 1998.
He was previously a copywriter at M&C Saatchi and joined W&K to work
alongside its joint creative directors, Nick Gill and Susan Hoffman.
During his two and a half year tenure, Barry has witnessed a rapid
turnover of staff in the creative department.
Gill joined Bartle Bogle Hegarty after seven months. Hoffman returned to
the US nine months later.
’I have been in the job for two and a half years, which is two years and
three months longer than most people,’ Barry said. ’I’ve given it my
best shot and it just hasn’t worked out.’
