TNT Post retains GLA distribution rights for The Londoner

LONDON - The Greater London Authority is to continue its contract with TNT Post for the door-drop distribution rights for free newspaper The Londoner for the third consecutive year, in a deal worth £1.3m.

The 12-month contract was awarded after what Greater London Authority described as a "competitive tender process against competing distributors".

The Londoner, which is published 10 times a year, has an annual circulation of 30m copies, and was launched in December 2002. The title provides information on the work of the Greater London Authority, and articles on life in the capital.

Charles Neilson, managing director at TNT Post said: "The renewal of the contract for the third year running clearly demonstrates our continued ability to provide an unrivalled, high-level service."

TNT Post, formerly Circular Distributors, is one of the UK's largest door-drop distributors, processing more than 60m letters a month. Its other clients include Walkers, Npower, Lloyds TSB, Thames Water and Ikea.

A spokesperson for the Greater London Authority said: "TNT Post submitted the most economically advantageous tender and the GLA is pleased to be working with it again."

Last week, TNT Post bought courier network rights off JD Williams for an undisclosed sum. The deal will give TNT Post 80% coverage of the UK for parcel and package delivery.

TNT Post also has a delivery service with Royal Mail, fully managed by a dedicated TNT Post Royal Mail team.
