TLRC set to sell off The Quay

LONDON - The Local Radio Company is in discussions to sell its Portsmouth radio station, The Quay. The sale will be the final change to TLRC's roster of stations following the takeover of the company by fellow radio company UKRD and will leave TLRC with 12 stations.

TLRC also wants to combine its stations in Durham, Northallerton and Darlington. Initially, the three stations will have four hours of localised programming a day. All other programming will be a single service.

William Rogers, chief executive of TLRC, said: "Combining the stations will require a change in regulations and TLRC is hoping that Ofcom will move in that direction."

Since June, TLRC has sold Isle of Wight Radio, Macclesfield radio station Silk FM, its 80% stake in Fire Media, which broadcasts Bournemouth station Fire, Hastings-based Arrow FM and Sovereign Radio in Eastbourne, and decided to close the High Wycombe-based Mix 107.
