Tiscali to cut jobs at UK ISPs

LONDON (Brand Republic) - European ISP Tiscali is to make significant job cuts in the UK over the next two months, as it merges the UK operations of its three recent acquisitions -- LineOne, World Online and Liberty Surf.

The three ISPs are understood to have 470 staff between them in the UK and reports suggest that up to 300 staff could be cut.

Tiscali bought LineOne, previously owned by BT and United Business Media, in April for £62m. It bought Dutch ISP World Online in November last year and French rival LibertySurf in February this year. The merger of the three companies is expected to be completed by July.
