Tindle buys Northcliffe regional title

Northcliffe Newspapers has sold Somerset title Wellington Weekly News to the family-run regional newspaper group Tindle Newspapers.

Wellington Weekly News was founded in 1860 and currently sells 4,120 copies in Wellington and the surrounding area.
Tindle Newspapers publishes more than 200 titles and owns 14 radio stations. It is run by Sir Ray Tindle, 79, who has a fortune of £215 million.
The sale was completed late yesterday. Northcliffe, part of the Daily Mail and General Trust, retains a minority share in the paper and will provide some production facilities.
