Times in sports agency search

LONDON - Times Media, publishers of The Times and The Sunday Times newspapers as well as Times Online, is seeking a sports marketing agency.

The media group has previously worked with Fast Track Communications, which is not thought to be repitching for the business.

The review follows the return of Katie Vanneck, a former head of promotions at Times Media, to the role of sales and marketing director last summer. She rejoined from The Daily Telegraph.

Among Vanneck's first decisions was to shift the £15m Times Media account out of RKCR/Y&R and into CHI & Partners with which she had worked at the Telegraph.

Times Media has recently focused much of its sports sponsorship activity on rugby union, and last year ran a campaign to promote its pundits during the RBS 6 Nations tournament. The media owner also has a deal with England rugby international Jonny Wilkinson, who writes a column for its newspapers.
