The Times to offer airmiles as subscription incentive

LONDON - The Mileage Company, the umbrella company set up by Airmiles to develop loyalty programmes for third party companies, has signed up News International as its first client.

have signed a 12 month partnership offering 750 airmiles to consumers who subscribe to the both papers. 750 airmiles is the equivalent to a return flight to a European destination.

National newspapers have been increasingly using incentives to encourage sign-up to subscriber schemes. The Independent is currently offering John Lewis voucher to readers who sign up to its own subscription scheme for six months.

The promotion launches 7 May and will be supported in the papers, online and through a TV campaign.

Airmiles will feature the offer on its website for a year and will give the papers access to its 2m database to market the offer. 

News International managing director customer direct Katie Vanneck said: "This is the first TV advertising campaign for our subscription scheme. This is an excellent long term partnership for us.  It offers our readers, many of whom are passionate travellers, great added value."
. The company was launched in response to the belief that loyalty schemes will become more popular amid the tougher economic climate.
