Times goes colour-coded in makeover

LONDON - The Times has today introduced a number of editorial and design changes as part of a full-colour redesign of the News International-owned newspaper.

These include colour-coded sections and an updatating of its daily supplement section, times2, with more planned changes to be introduced over the course of the year.

One key change is the shifting of the paper's leader articles, which have been moved to the front of the paper, and will now be found on page 2.

Times2 has been updated and expanded with more games and puzzles and a new page of news and features for children, called Young Times.

Other changes include expansion of both the Opinion and Letters pages, plus the introduction of The Daily Universal Register, a page of miscellany.

The redesign of the paper, which follows soon after design changes to Trinity Mirror-owned The Mirror, has been brought about by the shifting of production from Wapping to Times parent company News Corporation's £650m, full-colour presses at Broxbourne in Hertfordshire.
