The deal includes a two-month cross promotional campaign, which breaks on Thursday, designed to tie in with The Times Film First Screenings, which gives readers the chance to see most-anticipated films for free and receive a weekly DVD with trailers for the latest film releases.
The Times will sponsor TCM's Thursday Night at the Movies and offer 50 pairs of tickets to each of its Film First Screenings for TCM viewer competitions.
The deal is being supported in the paper as well as its next Film First DVD, available on Saturday, which will preview eight films including 'Alfie' starring Jude Law and Sienna Miller, and 'Man on Fire' with Denzel Washington.
In addition to previewing Film First autumn screenings, the DVD will feature bonus content from TCM including a sneak preview of TCM's September seasons: Style in Motion, which celebrates fashion in film, and Western Week, which features an exploration into the first 100 years of the Western.
Katie Vanneck, promotions director at Times Newspapers, said: "The Times Film First is a successful brand extension and we are always looking for ways to broaden its reach. The partnership with TCM is a great opportunity for us to get brand exposure to a film audience while providing a strong promotional vehicle for our eight autumn Film First screenings."
The Times and TCM are each sponsors of The Times BFI London Film Festival. The Times is entering its second year as title sponsor and TCM has sponsored the festival for five years with its film competition associated with the festival, TCM Classic Shorts.
The Times has teamed up with Picture House Cinemas to extend the range of venues for its Film First screenings in a move to give the Times more coverage in London and a different demographic. The Times will continue to work with Vue cinemas, formerly Warner Village.
