Times appoints debut marketing manager for Online

LONDON – The Times has appointed Simon Christy from Active ISP Group as the first marketing manager for the Times Online.

Christy was previously Central Europe marketing director for the web hosting firm Active ISP Group.

In his new role, he will work closely with the former Reuters and FT.com journalist Peter Bale, who was appointed last week as first editorial director for Times Online.

Annelies van den Belt, deputy advertisement sales director and digital director at Times Newspapers, said: "We are delighted to have Simon on board. Simon will be working with both our commercial and editorial teams to help continue the successful growth of Times Online."

Launched in 2001, Times Online now has 2.4m unique users each month and 89% of its visitors are classified ABC1s. The first UK media owner to launch an e-paper, Times Online broke even in the second quarter of 2003.
