Time Warner to use IPC as a route to UK market for US mags

Michael Pepe, president and chief executive of Time Inc

International, has revealed plans to use IPC as a channel to launch Time

Inc's US magazines in the UK.

In his first public statement since AOL Time Warner bought IPC in July,

Pepe said that, as an example, IPC's women's magazine division could

help Time extend the reach of its US tabloid magazine People.

Pepe also suggested that Time Inc's recent launch, In Style, would fit

well within IPC's women's magazines division, which publishes Marie

Claire.

Pepe said that a large business presence in the UK had been an important

factor in AOL Time Warner's interest in IPC.

"We viewed IPC as a very attractive and time-sensitive acquisition," he

said.
