Brown is currently working on Emap's parenting titles and Slimming magazine, where she is publishing director. She joined the company eight years ago as ad director of the parenting titles, prior to becoming publishing director of Here's Health, Period Living and briefly Top Sante.
Brown will deputise for Bebe and oversee youth strategy. David Bostock, who currently oversees youth, will move over to become head of training and development across all consumer media at the company, reporting to consumer managing director Dharmash Mistry.
Bebe has recruited two other aides, Augusta Barnes and Mandy Key. Barnes will be publisher of New Woman and Top Sante. A former head of marketing at Emap Fashion and Retail, she is currently publisher of Retail Week.
Key will publish More! magazine and will head up the new-media business at Elan, helping to manage the websites during development director Carmel Hayes' maternity leave. She has been heading internet sites at Emap Mobile and ran the interactive businesses including music and local radio sites, ringtones, SMS advertising and the creation of editorial content for mobile phones.
Key has also worked at Emap Australia, where she was variously publisher of Smash Hits, Barbie, Mother & Baby, Pregnancy & Birth and Bounty.
